The north-west coast of Cornwall, stretching from Pentire Point, just north of Polzeath, through beautiful Port Isaac and Tintagel, north to Widemouth Bay constitutes one of the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Cornwall.
A recent report in the Cornish Guardian has highlighted the work of the Cornwall AONB unit in supporting and encouraging the sustainability of nature at Pentire Head.
Just a short trek west along the south-west coast path from Port Isaac, Pentire Head overlooks the stunning Camel Estuary as the river meets the sea.
Over the last few years work at the headland has focussed on wildlife-friendly farming practices to improve wildlife habitats and encourage the establishment and restoration of nature at this spectacular location. Promising signs of success are evident in increased numbers of wildflowers and birdlife in the area.
