At the heart of Port Isaac, the RNLI Lifeboat Station is a central part of village and North Cornish life.
Hosting and supporting events, saving lives and even singing on the Platt with The Fisherman’s Friends, the volunteers of the Port Isaac RNLI are an essential part of the community.
Recent fund-raising activities to pay for a new lifeboat reached its £52,000 objective long before its target date and the new boat, to be called Pride of Port Isaac, is currently being built in Cowes.
Lifeboat Larks, the station’s annual festival of music, information, life-saving demonstrations and fund-raising was successful again this year, raising over £3,000 towards RNLI funds.
Busy over the summer as ever, being called out to a variety of emergencies including stranded teenagers, a fall from the cliffs and rescuing a fisherman swept off the rocks. It is all part of their regular contribution to saving the lives of those who enjoy this dramatic and beautiful coastline.
