For the first time ever, Cornwall will next year be host to Britain’s biggest cycle race, the OVO Energy Tour of Britain.
Starting at Penzance, in the south of the county, the race will see 120 cyclists riding 170 kilometres across the region to Bodmin in the north. The route should take them through some of Cornwall’s most iconic locations such as St Ives, Falmouth, the Eden Project and Newquay before arriving at their destination.
According to the Cornish Guardian, there are hopes that, if this event proves to be successful, Cornwall may in the future succeed in hosting a part of the prestigious Tour de France.
