From time to time every year, a superb surfer wave hits the coast of north Cornwall. This is the Cribbar, an occasional phenomenon created by a fortuitous combination of weather and tide which forms waves in excess of 20 feet high.
Surfers watch for news of the wave’s presence and February this year saw them descending on Newquay in north Cornwall to try their luck against the big wave.
Renowned for its stunning coastline, north Cornwall is known amongst the surfing community as the best location in the UK for big wave surfing.
