Bodmin Moor, just a half hour drive from Port Isaac, has been named as an ‘International Dark Sky’ reserve.
Awarded by the International Dark-Sky Association, the designation recognises the brilliant quality of the night sky in North Cornwall and the commitment of the people who manage the reserve to protect the area against light pollution.
The clarity of the night sky in this stunning location offers visitors a fabulous opportunity to gaze upon the awesome sight of distant planets, stars and constellations passing overhead.
This is the first time this award has been given to an area already recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
