‘Poldark Factor’ Causes Surge in Romantic Breaks

Thursday, May 26, 2016

The hit TV show Poldark has increased the number of people heading to Cornwall for a romantic break, tourism bosses say.

Leading tourism website has said that year on year, romantic breaks in Cornwall have risen by 155%.

The reason is being attributed to the ‘Poldark factor’, where couples are so inspired by the show’s romantic scenes they head to Cornwall to recreate them for themselves.

Matt Fletcher, spokesman for the travel website, says: “We believe that the increase in searches for romantic breaks is driven by the ‘Poldark factor’”.

“Devon and Cornwall are well known to be stunningly romantic. However, the beautifully shot Poldark series has put it firmly on the map as the hottest place it you’re looking for a holiday with romance this year.”

A second series of the BBC drama, which is filmed in Cornwall, is set to hit our screens later this year.
