With half term just around the corner, anyone heading to Cornwall will be looking for some family-friendly activities to keep the whole household happy.
Here’s 5 of our favourite half-term happenings:
- Cycle the Camel Trail
The Camel Trail is an old railway line that has been turned into a cycle path. The trail runs for a total of 18 miles between Padstow to Wenfordbridge. But if you’ve got little ones with you, why not try the 5.5 mile stretch between Wadebridge and Padstow. It’s entirely traffic-free, has gorgeous views of the Tamar valley, and you can stop in Padstow for a spot of lunch!
- Learn to surf
The North Cornwall coast is a haven for surfers, both for beginners and old-timers. Surf schools feature on many beaches, including Polzeath and Harlyn. There are also plenty of wetsuit and board hire shops, so you don’t have to bring your own kit.
- Explore the coastline
The coastline in North Cornwall is incredibly beautiful, and the chance to explore it should not be missed! The South West Coastal Path runs along the length of the coastline, and there are different walks for different abilities. If you fancy exploring the coastline from the water, you can hop in a kayak or try your hand at coasteering. Cornish Rock Tors in Port Gaverne offers both activities and caters for young adventurers.
- Discovery the mystery of King Arthur
Tintagel Castle, the legendary birth place of King Arthur, is dramatically carved into the cliff-face. Explore the ruins, learn about the castle’s history, and peer into nearby Merlin’s cave. A magical place where history meets mystery! There is also a jam-packed calendar of events that is sure to keep the whole family entertained.
- Take a trip to the Eden Project
Dubbed the eighth wonder of the world, the Eden Project is well worth a visit, and is a particularly good day out if it’s raining! Explore the giant biomes, learn about nature, and have a go on England’s longest and fastest zip-wire.
