Research suggests that British adults are returning to their favourite childhood holiday destinations to recreate memories with loved ones.
More than 5,000 holiday-makers were questioned by TripAdvisor, the travel website.
Of those who responded, 82% said their favourite holiday destination was in Britain, while 36% said they had returned in the past five years.
For most, the reason cited for revisiting childhood holiday destinations was to share it with their spouse, partner or children.
Cornwall takes the top spot
Cornwall is the most popular holiday destination in the UK, with Blackpool, Devon and Wales taking joint second place.
It’s hardly surprising that Cornwall remains a cherished location, as the combination of surf, sand and (for the most part) sunshine has left many with happy holiday memories.
