The Big Swim Cornwall is this weekend! The two day event is always great fun and raises funds for some brilliant charities.
The Big Swim is now in its third year, having been initiated in 2010 by Sarah Coates who wanted to encourage people to take to the open water. This year there are five different races, during which competitors will swim from Port Gaverne beach to Port Isaac beach.
After the final race on Saturday there’s a big party on the Platt, starting at 5pm. There will be musical performances galore, ranging from an acoustic singer-songwriter to an eight-piece funk band. On Sunday there will be an afternoon of children’s entertainment, a circus and even more music!
All the money raised will be split between three charities, all of which have a special meaning to the residents of Port Isaac. The beneficiaries this year are the Little Harbour Children’s Hospice, Mount Edgcumbe Hospice and The National Lobster Hatchery.
If you’re in Port Isaac this weekend, be sure to head to the beach to watch the spectacle. Or if you fancy getting your feet wet, there are still places left in all events except Sunday’s Super Serious Swim. Register now at www.thebigswimcornwall.co.uk!
