The Big Swim Cornwall is back and better than ever! Now in its fourth year, the open water swimming event will be held over two days from Saturday 17th August to Sunday 18th August.
The Big Swim first took place in 2010 when 50 swimmers braved the stretch from Port Gaverne to Port Isaac. Due to its astounding success, the event has grown year on year and will now feature five different races catering to all ages and abilities.
For the more athletic types there’s the triathlon (swim, run and kayak), the super serious swim (from Port Quin to Port Isaac) and the serious swim (Port Gaverne to Port Isaac). For the rest there’s the not so serious swim and the little swim (open to those under the age of 13).
Organiser Sarah Coates said: “Yet again we are pushing the boundaries and we have exciting new plans including the possibility of a pop up campsite for those who want to make a weekend of it.”
Whether you’re competing or spectating, the Big Swim is always a great day out. Afterwards there’s a big party in Port Isaac that carries on until the wee hours of the morning, with food, bands and dancing to keep you entertained.
