We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our guests a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
The past year has been a phenomenal year for the UK, and no less for Cornwall. We hosted hundreds of street parties for Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, welcomed the Olympic Torch to England (yes, we got it first), and Helen Glover from Penzance won the first Olympic gold for Team GB.
In addition to the ‘Jubi-lympics’, it is worth noting that Cornwall has been adorned with awards various in the past 12 months. Our beaches topped the polls in the Trip Advisor awards, while Sharp’s and St Austell’s both enjoyed success at the World Beer Awards. Nathan Outlaw of Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Rock was awarded a second Michelin Star, meaning Cornwall now has now has more Michelin Stars than you can shake a gastronomic stick at.
In Port Isaac, our beloved Fisherman’s Friends have continued their meteoric rise to fame, playing sell-out gigs across the country. We put on a jam-packed calendar of events, including the Port Isaac carnival and St Endellion music festival. Oh yes, and not only did we survive the pasty tax, the Eden Project went on to hold the first ever pasty championship, to great acclaim!
All in all, 2012 has been an enormous success, and if you visited the Beach House in the past year we truly hope you had a wonderful time. We’re all looking forward to what 2013 holds, and we hope to see you there!
