There are now only two weeks until the Port Isaac Carnival! Held on Saturday 2 June, it promises to be a great day for all the family.
Since September the village has been preparing for the festivities, undertaking all manner of fundraising activities from fancy dress to face painting. Particular highlights included the infamous three legged race, where entrants hobbled, walked and (occasionally) ran from Port Gaverne to Port Isaac beach. Afterwards everyone was invited onto the beach for an afternoon of fun and games where there was an Easter egg hunt, a duck race, an Easter hat competition, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, a bouncy castle, a coconut shy, a tug of war competition, a barbeque and much more!
We are now all set for the big day itself, where there will be a float procession through the village. The judges will be looking for the best decorated float, the best original idea and the best in carnival. The merriment continues into the evening with Jamie Hewitt performing in the Village Hall from 9pm. Entrance is completely free, and there is a fully stocked bar for those of you who would like a drink or two.
The carnival is always a fun-filled day, so don’t forget to put it in your diary!
