We always knew it here in Port Isaac, and now it’s been confirmed: Cornwall has some of the best beaches in the country.
TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, has announced the winners of its Travellers’ Choice Beach Destination awards. And guess what? Yes, that’s right; Cornwall has more on the list than another other county, with St Ives, Newquay, Bude and Harlyn Bay being named the UK’s fourth, sixth, seventh and tenth best beach destinations respectively.
Unlike other award schemes, the winners were solely determined by TripAdvisor reviews, where millions of travellers from around the world have their chance to rate a destination. The most highly rated beach destinations were the ones that made it onto the list.
Speaking of the awards, Malcolm Bell, head of tourism at VisitCornwall, said: Cornwall is an iconic destination where our fantastic beaches are one, if not the major draw, be that to swim, surf, walk on or dine beside.”
He added: “Any visitor will be spoilt for choice with over 300 beaches to visit which would take many years of visits and a lifetime of memories. This latest recognition shows we have real award winning beaches that can stand proud on an international stage.”
