Here at the Beach House, Seth Lakeman and his foot-stomping songs are a favourite. And now we are pleased to announce his has released a new and very special album, titled ‘Tales from the Barrel House.’
Not only did he write the entire album, but he also plays every instrument on it and produced and mixed it himself. Quite a feat!
This ‘back to basics’ album, as Seth calls it, is something he has always wanted to do. But he admits that he had been prevented from doing so in the past by his major record label with EMI. So when the deal was terminated, Seth embraced the opportunity, and spent two weeks recording in Devon workshop near his home.
Speaking about his creative rebirth, Seth said: “I’m grateful for being able to work in some of the best studios and with some top producers, and I’m proud of those albums. But I found working on my own quite liberating. It’s the first time I’ve felt completely free to do my own thing for years.”
“I feel this is a different album. It’s definitely more pared down and that’s exactly what I wanted,” he added.
The album is available as a very special limited run which you can purchase via his website, www.sethlakeman.co.uk. The first 1,000 copies will be signed by Seth.
