The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow has been awarded Business of the Year by the regional paper, West Morning News.
The title is always awarded to profitable, growing businesses that have a positive influence on the local economy.
Judges commended The Seafood Restaurant, praising it not only for weathering the tough economic climate, but also for helping to give Cornwall a worldwide reputation.
The restaurant has gone from strength to strength since it first opened in 1975, and has undoubtedly helped to put Cornwall on the culinary map. The region now has a reputation for fine dining, and there are now more Michelin-starred restaurants per head of population in Cornwall than there are in London.
Commenting on his most recent accolade, owner Rick Stein said: “This has crowned a fantastic year for our business. We are immensely proud to receive this award from the Western Morning News and add it to the PWC Westcountry Business of the Year Award that we received in June.
The TV chef added: “It is testament to the hard work that everyone puts in across the company to maintain the quality and consistency across all aspects of what we do”.
